Pornhub prides itself on being a safe space for our creators to upload content and for our viewers to consume adult content. We take several steps to help protect the safety of our community and integrity of our platform by ensuring that content adheres to our Polices and Related Guidelines. For example, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards child sexual abuse material (CSAM), which includes any material that sexualizes, sexually exploits, or endangers children on our platform. If we find or are made aware of potential CSAM, we will immediately remove it and report it.
In addition to providing a safe space to upload and consume content, we help creators earn a steady income by offering a reliable platform. We do not waiver in our commitment to support sex workers and we are working on new initiatives to help creators expand their revenue streams – more to come in 2025! We also show up and we listen to creators in the spirit of making continuous improvements on Pornhub that enhance their overall experience.
So, how does Pornhub keep the platform safe and reliable?
Verified Uploaders
For starters, we only allow verified creators and professional studios to upload content on Pornhub. Before anyone can upload content, they first must undergo a robust verification process.
For those in the Model Program, they must verify their age and identity using a trusted third-party ID verification service. Once they have completed those steps, a human moderator will review and either approve or reject their application.
Professional studios who apply to the Content Partner Program also go through a verification process. To start, studios must verify their account holder and company’s name. Once that is complete, we audit a sample of the content available on their paysite and the content they plan on uploading to Pornhub. We request the necessary paperwork, such as Release Forms and IDs for all performers appearing in their selected content. This is to ensure 2257 record keeping requirements are met.
Lastly, a validation of their business (commonly known as a Know Your Client [KYC] review). Studios must provide us with a certificate of incorporation, a company good standing document or company extract, in addition to proof of their latest tax filing, a utility bill addressed to the account holder issued by a reputable service provider, or a scan of a government issued ID. Additionally, studios will need to provide proof of ownership of the domain name (this can be a certificate of ownership, invoice for the latest renewal of the domain name, or a screenshot demonstrating access to the count on the relevant registrar’s website through which the domain is registered). The entire verification process for studios can take weeks to complete.
These robust verification methods are imperative to providing a safe and reliable platform.
Performer Verification and Content Moderation
Once verified, Models and Studios are eligible to upload content to Pornhub. When members of our Model Program upload content depicting additional performers, they must also verify the identity of these other performers prior to uploading in order to begin the content moderation process.
When a piece of content is uploaded, it is scanned by several tools and against numerous databases to determine if there are Terms of Service violations or known illegal activity present. If the content passes the scans, it then reaches a human moderator who will watch and listen, using meticulous criteria, to determine that the content is compliant with our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and policies.
If the moderator confirms the content is compliant and all performer verification requirements are met, the video will be published within 72 hours of the upload date. No content will be published until it goes through the complete scans and human moderation process.
